Litigation

The Barbara McDowell Public Interest Law Center provides high quality legal representation in social justice cases to underserved and underrepresented communities across the country.

We currently work with dedicated volunteer attorneys under the direction of Senior Litigation Director, Robert Sims, to protect the civil rights of our constituents and defend them with the same quality enjoyed by the wealthy and large corporations. In the future, the Law Center will add staff attorneys to our team. Learn more about the Volunteer Attorney Corps here.

From 2009-2022, our affiliate organization, the Barbara McDowell Foundation, operated a High Impact Litigation Project - an initiative that coordinated pro bono civil rights litigation cases. Under its auspices, the Foundation coordinated the initiation and litigation of some 20 cases. Below are the cases litigated through the High Impact Litigation Project.
